The Manager, Design Services enables Avantor to creatively execute its strategy and support its mission and strategic goals. Primary areas of focus include providing creative vision and direction to the design team The Manager, Design Services will focus on:
o Providing art direction to the design team, ensuring clear communication, guidance, and design rationale o Oversee the delivery of high quality, production-ready artwork files by the design team to meet specifications and timing, including pre-flight as a QC process o Identify and report any opportunities for efficiency to the Creative Director o Have regular 1:
1 meetings with design team members to assist in their career growth at Avantor The Manager of Design Services has leadership and management responsibility for a team of graphic designers who deliver creative solutions that are thoughtful and technically accurate for a range of mediums. The person in this role ensures our design solutions deliver on a consistent visual brand standard closely following our brand guidelines. This role requires strong design skills, (Sometimes hands-on) the ability to clearly communicate and follow through, project management and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to establish and maintain solid relationships with staff members. This person is accountable for managing complex projects and team workload to ensure on-time delivery, while establishing and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of printers and print processes and ensuring that all publication projects are fulfilled to the satisfaction of the internal business partners. Role is remote, with a preference for leading candidate to be located near PA. Travel to corporate location in Radnor, PA requiredMAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manage and provide art direction to the design team, ensuring high quality deliverables within established timeframes Oversee the delivery of high quality, production-ready artwork files by the design team to meet vendor specifications and timing, including pre-flight as a QC process Work collaboratively with leadership to ensure the services offered by the creative group are understood, documented, conveyed and reflected in the visual design approach of each project Drive development, coordination, communication and adoption of processes and procedures related to the approach and management of the service offerings of the creative group Supervise the work of all designers on the team, working closely to mentor them and develop their skills Manage resourcing, time and budget (when applicable) of all projects Work to improve process and workflow with the goal of increasing productivity and identifying new cost savings opportunities Monitor error rates and develop processes to mitigate reoccurrence Ensure strong archival system and processing for all work projects is maintained, including a DAM system where applicable Ensure the design team maintains and updates images, photos and work products in appropriate asset management system Ensure brand integrity is maintained as well as adheres to brand standards set by senior management Represent the Communications Shared Services department when called upon to advise on options, budgets and deadline considerations Execute design solutions, revise and update existing design deliverables, and prepare production-ready files as needed Work with designers and vendors to troubleshoot and problem-solve production issues on files Provide technical guidance based on project needs/complexity to meet production specifications and standards Check preliminary and final proofs for errors and make necessary corrections Coordinates and supervises photo shoots as needed Research, make recommendations and implement new technologies to improve efficiencies, processes and adopt best practices Attend and/or supervise press runs as required TIME DISTRIBUTION 30% of time:

Administrative tasks (email, miscellaneous meetings, etc.) QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications) Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, or Associates Degree in Graphic Design or related field required 8
years working experience in marketing, design, and layout experience (Corporate experience preferred) 3
years team leadership/management experience In-house agency experience and/or external agency experience desired Detailed knowledge of and working experience with Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat) Detailed knowledge of and working experience with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel Ability to think globally and work with a global team Portfolio required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Partner with business leaders to build credibility, establishing yourself as a trusted partner and advisor, and having a bias for action and execution International experience, promoting cross cultural sensitivity and intercultural cooperation. Understand business requirements and translate them into visual communications Knowledge of standards, design techniques, trends, and best practices Proficient in creating designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and aesthetic design concepts Ability to create high quality CMYK or RGB images for print or multimedia Understanding of dot gain, color separations, trapping, Pantone to CMYK conversions, imposition work and retouching Strong understanding of current technologies or practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops and groups Good judgment and decision-making skills (Ability to consider the costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate approach) Solid understanding of all production/printer-industry technical requirements required - prepress, offset, web, gravure, flexography, digital print, large format Ability to work with templates established by agency or other brand sources Ability to balance workloads across team and department Able to proactively present solutions to improve workflow efficiency ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions) This position will be remote based Work assignments are diversified Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems New alternatives may be developed to resolve future issues Business travel may be required

Salary Range:
$100K -- $150K
Minimum Qualification
